The joint meeting of AAOP/ESOP/ISOP took place on 22-23 October 2004 in New Orleans with more than 100 participants from the US, Europe, Middle East and Far East. The Program consisted of 5 lectures on the History of Ocular Pathology and 34 free papers related to practice of Ophthalmic Pathology.

The 2004 Symposium entitled " Inflammation re-envisioned in ophthalmic disorders" was successfully conducted under co-chairs Drs. Narsing Rao and Jan Prause as a joint venture of AAOP/ESOP and the Zimmerman Lecture was given by Dr.Edward Howes.

In 2005 the Zimmerman Lecture will be given by Dr.Thaddeus Dryja in Chicago at the AAO/AAOP Symposium, which will be entitled "Genetics in Ophthalmology". The 2005 AAOP meeting will be organized by Dr Deepak Edwards on 15 October 2005; for further information contact Veronica Meane at <vronmean@uic.edu> .

The Business Meeting of AAOP also took place on and the following decisions were made:Dr. Martha Farber was elected to be the president for the term of 2007-08 and Dr. Deepak Edwards was elected to be the Secretary/Treasurer for the same period. Drs Jerry Shields and Alan Friedman were elected as Zimmerman Lecturers for the years of 2006 and 2007 respectively.
